1. EDGE and LanFlow seem similar. What are the differences between the two?
LanFlow originated as a spin-off of EDGE Diagrammer, a subset focused on diagramming computer networks. Since then, we have added capabilities to LanFlow to make it a better tool specifically for diagramming networks. However, we have also added the identical network diagramming capabilities to EDGE diagrammer within a free add-on Net Diagramming Extension Pack.

With the Net Diagramming Extension Pack, EDGE Diagrammer has all of the capabilities of LanFlow including all of its symbols and templates.

2. I noticed another product called WizFlow sold elsewhere. What are the differences between EDGE and WizFlow?
WizFlow Flowcharter is another product we sell that is specifically for flowcharts. It is a subset of EDGE Diagrammer targeted for the consumer who just needs a simple flowcharting tool. We sell it through separate distribution channels to minimize confusion. Basically, WizFlow is a like an EDGE-lite with fewer diagramming options and fewer advanced features.

WizFlow comes with many fewer symbols and templates, does not support the add-on extension packs, and lacks some features such as the abilty to scale your diagram or to link diagrams and documents to hyper-links within figures. Because WizFlow is derived from EDGE Diagrammer, it also tends to lag behind by a version. That is to say that new releases come out on EDGE Diagrammer first and are followed by similar releases on WizFlow (and LanFlow) in six to nine months.

Other than differences in versions, diagrams are interchangeable between all of our products. However, note that diagrams created by version 4.0 of EDGE Diagrammer (as an example) cannot be read by WizFlow or LanFlow until they reach version 4.0 as well.

3. What is the difference between the 'home use' product and the standard (business) product?
The home-use license is our standard product but with a license agreement that prohibits the use of the product for business or non-personal use. The software and capabilities are the same as the standard product, the difference being only one of licensing. Please be mindful that we offer discounted home-use licenses as a courtesy to make the product affordable to an individual who requires the product for personal use in the home.

4. Do you sell an interface API such as a DLL, VB library, or OCX controls to allow other programs to include your diagramming technology?
We do not currently provide OCX controls or other interfaces to our diagramming technology. Currently the only way to interface with our diagramming engine is through the .EDG diagram files - these are openly documented and human readable. We regard our diagramming technology to be extremely valuable and wish it to remain proprietary. However, we are always interested in collaborating with serious partners to develop new diagramming products. If your company is looking to adopt diagramming technology and is open to such a partnership, we are interested in discussing it with you.

5. Can your software create a flowchart or other diagram from source code, description file, database, or spreadsheet?
Our products are currently interactive diagramming solutions. They require a user to design a diagram using the mouse and the program's interface. There are no facilities to generate a diagram from source code or other description files. However, our diagram format is open-source and it would not be prohibitively difficult to create a simple conversion program to generate diagrams from an outside source. We currently have no such software.

6. Can your software create source code or other output based on a diagram that you draw?
Our products contain no facilities to generate source code or other specialized non-display output other than our proprietary open-source .EDG diagram format. It would not be prohibitively difficult to create a conversion program to generate source code or other output based on a saved diagram. We currently have no such software.

7. Can you use your products to create web graphics and html source?
All of our products have the capability to export to web graphics format (JPG), but not yet GIF. We hope to add GIF output soon as well as the ability to export directly to HTML and image maps.

8. Can your products read or write diagram files editable by Visio, Inspiration, ABC Flowcharter etc?
Our products cannot read or write editable diagramming formats other than our proprietary EDG file format. We hope to add support for Visio import/export before long.
