Party Box FAQ
Below are some answers to commonly asked questions about the Flatiron Cornhole Party Box
boards.
Are Party Box boards and bags "regulation"?
No. They are made for portability and accessibility, fun for any location or occasion.
Do you have something against the regulation game of cornhole?
Absolutely not! In fact our founder played competitively for many years including state and national tournaments.
We developed some premium exemplary regulation boards and bags over the last two decades. But the recreational
game has it's place too.
Just as we love and appreciate the real things when we're being competitive, we also enjoy playing bar-box pool,
soft-tip darts, pickleball, mini-golf, and Party Box bags.
Why are the holes and bags not the same size as on regulation boards?
We designed the Party Box to be smaller and lighter weight than full size regulation cornhole boards, not just
scaled down. To achieve the right combination of portability and good playing conditions, slightly smaller
and lighter bags worked better, and a smaller hole fit better.
Party Box boards are built from lighter 1/2" plywood rather than the heavy 3/4" plywood
we use for our regulation classic boards. When regulation 16oz bags land on 1/2" plywood boards, they can
make the board flex and bounce unacceptably, not only causing the bags to bounce off more, but causing the
boards to move (on certain surfaces). Some regulation boards include cross-supports, but we chose to
lighten the bags to match the boards instead.
Can I use standard full size regulation cornhole bags with the Party Box Boards?
But we don't recommend using full size bags for the best experience. The holes are a little smaller and
the boards are designed to be played at closer distance. That might balance out as long as your bags are not
too stiff to fit through the hole. But depending on your bags, it might be more challenging or outright
frustrating to play with a smaller hole.
But the biggest reason to use the smaller lighter Party Box bags is that we designed them to
match the size and construction of the Party Box boards to achieve the right playing conditions, not
just portability.
What’s distance should the boards be set up for?
Party Box boards are meant to be set up on a smaller court than regulation boards. But there is no official
distance. As a recreational game, it's up to you to play the game the way you think is most fun. There's
always room to play on Party Box boards.
Any distance is fine for casual or recreational
play which is sometimes played from 24, 21, 20 feet or whatever there's
room for. Allowing some players to throw from closer is a great way to
equalize play for younger, less-skilled, or wheelchair-confined players.
